Every Girl Needs Something with Sequins

I wanted to follow up my last post about shoes with my second favorite piece of clothing fabric .. SEQUINS. When I think back to the items of clothing that I am most drawn to they ALL involve sequins. I love the shine, glitter, and sparkle effect that a sequin maxi skirt or top gives off. When I see a girl in sequins I think, "She's fun and beautiful." No special occasion needed. Whether it's from 1980 or 2013, sequins have forever been a statement piece in fashion.

Last night I read an article titled, " 26 Fashion Rules You Should Break Immediately" and wait for it .. Rule #6 'You Can (nay, SHOULD) Wear SEQUINS for Daytime'. BOOM goes the dynamite. I'm set, are you?!

I REALLY wish my mom would have saved her sequin blouses from the 80's. I would rock the shit out those tops now .. and I do when I find one in a vintage store. They can be a rare find and it's exciting to know it's old and chances are when you are out, no one else will be rocking the same top. Don't get me wrong, I love sequins of all ages and my advice to you reading is that if you don't own a piece of sequin, FIND four one .. just because. Here are a few of my current pieces: skirts, dresses, tops. SPARKLE ON!

Top Left: sequin crop top and mini skirt
Top Right: long sequin maxi dress

All Shoes Everything

I find it only very fitting that I start my picture posts with my FAVORITE piece of clothing .. SHOES. As long as I can remember, or at least since my Freshman year of college, I've always collected bought shoes. High heels, ballerina flats, peep toe, wedges, military boots, knee highs & I could keep going. There is something about a new pair of shoes to just make your day. As I'm typing this I am humming the "Hey I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right" tune to the very catchy Paolo Nutini song. Cue one of my favorite movies, "Something Borrowed." ANYWAYS, back to the main topic: SHOES! I have put together a few of my favorites from .. you guessed it, Lotus. DRUMROLL PLEASE

These bad boys pictured above are my new studded combat boots. Snagged these for an upcoming trip to NYC. All the
shoes pictured below are available at www.lotuslook.com & in my closet if you live within Charlotte, NC and I think you're cool.
Nude with gold pointed toe. LOVE. Versions of these heels are see everywhere from VOGUE magazine to Elle

Fresh Face

Hello world & happy Saturday! I'm writing my first ever blog post from a not so surprising location .. my happy place and place of work, Lotus. Lotus is a women's boutique located in Charlotte, NC and online at www.lotuslook.com. AMAZING. If you want a small glimpse into what my personal closet looks like check them out online and what you see will probably look familiar when I begin my outfit postings. Stay Tuned!

My view for the evening consists of a neon green floor, white walls adorned with jewelry & shoes, mannequins dressed from head to toe and ALL the sequins&sparkles you could need want. Not bad for a Saturday night when you are a 25 year young old fashionista who would rather spend her last $20 on a necklace than a cocktail or meal.

I moved to Charlotte, NC from a small town in Maryland when I graduated from college. I quickly learned that "my style" was ALWAYS changing. One day I was all black everything (which is still my go to) the next I was in a ballerina maxi & tee. It's awesome okay to change your style, your look. One quote that sticks with me is, "Your style should evolve with you; no one wants to be the same everyday." TRUE! Take a minute to think of that in terms of fashion. If you agree you will LOVE enjoy this blog. More to come, I hope you enjoy your evening!
