 It's 8:00am on a chilly Sunday morning here in the Queen City. Currently playing on my Ipad is Cindy Laupers, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." How fitting for this blog post considering I'm talking about SEQUINS ..the ULTIMATE girly-glam piece of clothing. This is where you can roll your eyes if sequins really aren't your thing .. that's fine .. BUT for those ladies who hearts are feeling warm right now, "REASON #30 (for the girls girl): SEQUINS DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED." Well there you have it, SEQUINS all day, errr'day. This glittery Pinterest quote says so, so it must be legit.

 

I personally believe we can make the world a more beautiful place just by adding a little sparkle. Who's with me?!? CHEERS to sequins during the day!

I paired a vintage silver sequin top with distressed jeans and simple silver ballerina flats. I wore minimal jewelry for the obvious reason .. I was already a disco ball, but if you feel like layering on some more bling ---> You Go Glenn Coco!

Lady in the Street

I'm sure all most of you can relate to the Pinterest crazy, and I myself have fallen to checking the feed weekly ..nightly if I'm super bored curious. I mostly use this app for outfit ideas, the occasional healthy snack and some bulletin board ideas for my classroom. BUT mostly, usually, probably for OUTFIT ideas .. who am I kidding.

One evening scrolling I came across a beautiful brunette styled in distressed skinny jeans, a rock 'n' roll tee shirt, fitted blazer and cheetah pumps. I LOVED her look especially since I haven't changed out of leather/liquid leggings in .. well .. MONTHS? I thought YES, today is the day to bring back denim ..so here it goes.

I copied the pin, but added my own personal touch as you will see below. I opted for a simple black bootie instead of cheetah pumps and an over sized hat to add a more dramatic effect. Other than that I basically pulled a, "Bitch Stole My Look" and unlike many of my pinned recipes from Pinterest, this outfit worked the first time.

You probably have most of these pieces in your closet already and to prepare for Spring I would even suggest a neutral or pastel blazer over top of the rocker tee and white skinnies or the distressed ones to add a cooler vibe. The hat of course was just my personal preference, but a high pony or top knot would be great too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! Wow I know this is SUPER cliche, but can you really believe another year has FLOWN gone by? SERIOUSLY. I hope this post is finding you ready to kick-start whatever this coming year has planned for you. So many people make resolutions and it's not really my style, BUT if you're one of them, GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS.

 

My post is going to be super short with no real reason to be posting in the first place, BUT I wanted to share my NYE choice and the fact that my boyfriend has swag also. Michael if you are reading this, you're welcome ;-) ..and a good date for ringing in 2014. We spent the evening together at this AMAZING restaurant called SOUL in plaza Midwood. They have the best drink specials, the BEST small plates & the best atmosphere. If you are reading this and live IN or AROUND Charlotte, GO!

 

I kept to my signature SEQUINS and leather high waisted pants, a metallic drop down necklace and Swarovski stacked bracelets. I topped off the outfit with my NEW "rainbow" faux fur coat. My BF wore dark denim, a black button down paired with a tailored gray blazer and ombre Steve Madden shoes. Sooooo cute! Enjoy today and every day going forward.
